Hormones and Boron

Boron is an essential trace mineral. It is vital for hormones, but the hormonal effect depends entirely on sex and hormonal status. In a landmark study done on a post menopausal women showed that just 3 mg of boron a day actually doubled serum, estradiol, and testosterone concentrations. In another study done on healthy adult men they used 10 mg of boron daily, and, it showed a reduction in sex hormone binding globulin, thereby reducing serum Estrada by 39% while increasing free testosterone by 28%. Boron is essential for synthesizing vitamin D and is also a major component in bone health. My favorite form is borax, which is sodium borate , this compound is oxygen, sodium, and boron. It is the most bioavailable form of boron. I usually add a pinch to my coffee or water, and that takes care of my daily boron needs.https://www.ars.usda.gov/research/publications/publication/?seqNo115=100513
